If you’ve delved into Enscape, you’re likely acquainted with its two primary licensing choices: Fixed and Floating licenses. These options are fundamental in determining how you utilize this powerful 3D rendering software. However, grasping the nuanced applications of each can significantly enhance your workflow efficiency.
This blog aims to provide a comprehensive exploration of both license types, going beyond their basic definitions to illuminate who stands to benefit most from each. By examining their unique advantages and suitability for different scenarios, you’ll gain insights into optimizing your experience with Enscape.
What Does Enscape Do?
Enscape is indeed highly regarded in the architectural and design industries for its seamless integration and efficiency in rendering 3D models. Unlike traditional visualisation tools that often require exporting files to a separate rendering program, Enscape allows users to visualise their designs directly within their modeling software. This integration streamlines the workflow significantly, as there’s no need for exporting/importing files between different software platforms.
By enabling real-time rendering directly within the modeling environment, Enscape enhances the design process by providing immediate visual feedback. This capability not only saves time but also allows architects and designers to make informed decisions quickly during the design phase. Stakeholders and clients benefit from this approach as well, as they can view detailed, realistic renders of floor plans and architectural designs without needing specialised software or extensive training.
ENSCAPE VERSIONS
To Specify, the two versions are
Fixed-Seat License: This license is tied to a single machine. To transfer it, use the Remove function found in the General Settings menu.
Floating- Seat License: This type can be used across multiple machines simultaneously, as long as the number of active Enscape windows does not exceed the number of licenses purchased.
WHY FIXED
A fixed licence is a licence that’s is best used for personal usage, even if both a fixed licence and a Floating licence can only allow ONE user person licence a fixed seat is only allowed to one PC and therefore doesn’t have the adaptability that a floating seat would have. However the features of the licence are both he same between a floating and Fixed and it relies on the layout of the seat itself. For an individual a fixed seat works best for a few reasons
Cost-effective: A fixed-seat license is generally more affordable than a floating license, making it a budget-friendly option.
Work efficiency: For remote work, you only need to install the software on one device. This is especially useful if you use a single, moveable PC—no need to install it on multiple machines.
Tracking: With a fixed-seat license, managing and tracking usage is simpler because it’s tied to one specific device rather than multiple.
Transferable: Transferring a fixed-seat license is straightforward. You can manually revoke it from one computer and activate it on another when needed.
WHY FLOATING?
As the term suggests, with a Floating license, you can activate the key on as many systems as you need. Each time you open Enscape, one seat is occupied, up to the maximum number of seats you’ve purchased. The seat becomes available again once you close the Enscape window. This means that the total number of machines using Enscape simultaneously must not exceed the number of seats you own, similar to the Enscape Fixed license. However, unlike the Fixed license, a Floating license does not allow multiple users to use the same license concurrently.
A Floating license is ideal for groups where multiple individuals may need to use Enscape at different times. This flexibility ensures convenient access to the software across the group. Other benefits include:
Collaboration: Under one email, Team members can easily share access to Enscape without being restricted by a single user.
Flexibility: It accommodates varying work schedules and allows for efficient utilization of resources across different team members.
Cost-Effectiveness: Shared licensing reduces the need for individual licenses, optimizing budget allocation for software resources.
